Eli Timberg

“I had the absolute best experience with Eli. He held my hand every step of the way with my case. He was overly prepared and help me reverse/be prepared for my trial time. He is authentic, kind and compassionate. He made me feel like a friend not a client. I would 100% use him again. He was the best investment I ever made. I was thrilled when he helped me when a case I really thought was hopeless. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude. Hire him. You won’t be disappointed.”

Eli Timberg

Criminal Defense Attorney

Eli Timberg is a criminal defense attorney with a proven track record of delivering for his clients no matter the charge. Prior to joining Rawls, Scheer, Clary & Mingo in 2022, Eli spent more than six years at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office, where he gained considerable experience representing clients on a broad range of misdemeanor and felony cases. He now represents defendants in federal and state courts throughout North Carolina on a range of issues, including those accused of DWI, domestic violence, drug trafficking, embezzlement, arson, sweepstakes, and sex offense cases.

He brings full focus and commitment to every case, recognizing that even misdemeanor criminal charges can carry serious potential impacts on careers, custody, and a range of factors, even if they don’t carry heavy jail sentences. That’s why Eli’s specialty is taking on the most challenging cases and securing the best outcome for his clients. While he has taken dozens of cases to trial and prevailed in many, he also understands that many good outcomes are achieved without trial, by learning from, listening to, and truly understanding his clients and their goals.

Eli received his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He fell in love with legal advocacy while working at the Bread for the City Legal Clinic in Washington, DC, as part of the Avodah Jewish service program. While there, he represented clients with low incomes in Social Security Disability hearings, ensuring they received the benefits they qualified for. He then worked as intern investigator at the DC Public Defender Service where he found his true calling—criminal defense.

Eli was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Blacksburg, VA, and Charlotte, NC, where he attended East Mecklenburg High School and Northwest School of the Arts. He calls East Charlotte home and enjoys cooking on the weekends for his wife, son, and chihuahua mix.
