Katie C Clary
Katie Clary’s practice is dedicated entirely to criminal defense with the exception of her work with domestic violence protective orders. Her initial start began at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office where she quickly became known for her tireless advocacy and ability to prevail, despite an extraordinary caseload.
Ms. Clary graduated Summa Cum Laude , ranked first in her class at Queen’s College where she majored in business. She had a successful sales career with AT&T earning national recognition year after year for her results. After ten years with AT&T, Katie decided to pursue her long-term goal to study law. She entered Wake Forest’s School of Law in 1998 with her family (two small children and her husband) in tow and never looked back. In her second year at Wake Law, Katie was selected for the university’s prestigious Gabrielli National Moot Court Team. Her team made its way to the national competition where teams from Universities across the country argued before the New York Supreme Court. Ms. Clary’s team prevailed, earning Wake Law the national title. Ms. Clary was named the competition’s “Best Oralist”. Upon her graduation in 2001, she was selected for the prestigious CALI award by her trial advocacy professors for recognition of her highly effective trial skills.
Katie is well-known throughout the courthouse for her aggressive advocacy, creative approach and preparedness. She has represented members of law enforcement, professional athletes and well-known members of the legal and business community. She prides herself on connecting with each of her clients and takes her role as counselor just as seriously as she does her role as advocate.
“The moment I shook hands with Katie in our initial consult I knew I was in safe hands. She was recommended to me by Cpt. Chuck Henson, who is familiar with the same defendent I have had issues with in the past. She not only prepared for the case in a very short amount of time, becoming very familiar and intimate with all pertinant details of the incident as well as prior history…”

my recent reviews
“Ms. Clary is the precisely kind of attorney I had hoped to find to assist me in my legal matters. She is highly skilled and very competent in her legal knowledge and is able to articulate matters and concerns she has in ways that lay people can understand. As a client that was more concerned with outcomes than time frames, she worked with me to achieve the best possible resolution and did not attempt to pressure me to reach a more expedient resolution. She was more than willing to continue the case until she felt that the best resolution could be reached. in communications Ms. Clary or her assistant(s) was always prompt in communicating with me, and kept me adequately informed.
I was pleasantly surprised, on multiple occasions, when discussing the legal strategy of my case with Ms. Clary because she always seemed to have another approach or angle to explore. From requesting evidence, to impeaching potential witnesses, allowing and disallowing continuances, there was always another way to deal with my case. As a client this is something that really made me feel good about the abilities of my attorney.
My overall experience with Ms. Clary was resoundingly positive, and i would highly recommend her services.”
Looking for a DUI/DWI Attorney?
The consequences of a DWI conviction are truly severe – suspension of your driver’s license, dramatic increases in your auto insurance, lengthy community service and, in some cases – jail time. While drunk driving is a serious offense, many people are wrongly accused or are charged in violation of their rights. With the right criminal defense lawyer handling the case, many people are acquitted. Even for those who do not win their case outright, getting a reasonable sentence requires a lot of experience and creativity by the lawyer. Read More About DUI/DWI Representation
